The Tango Performance Team class is geared towards dancers with previous tango experience. No partner necessary. This will be a “rolling” group; you don’t have to make a commitment to make all of the rehearsals to participate. (But we will ask for a commitment to various performance dates; you can choose the dates that work for you.) We will be performing at several events including Tango in the Square, various milongas and the Tango USA championships, and more. We will also be working one-on-one with couples for solo choreography. Join us to perform for 1 event or to be a regular part of the team. Come check it out; class is conducted as a drop-in as everyone begins to learn the choreographies; there will be some commitment dates so that everyone is present to run as a group. Please contact me if you are interested in the group, or with any questions, and I’m so very much looking forward to seeing you!

Tango Fundamentals is a mixed beginning and intermediate level Tango class focusing on basic connection, musicality, technique and getting you moving around the floor. This is an inviting & friendly class! Great for the newest and kind of new beginners as well as those who want to work on integration of the patterns into comprehensive movement. Come join us! No partner or experience necessary. Besos! For more information: www.firetigerdance.com

Each class begins with brushing up on the fundamentals of Tango: walking to the rhythm, proper posture, comfortable embrace. We study movements, from basics to sophisticated. We work on technical details through exercises and drills. We demonstrate the elements’ function in connection with the music, the dance floor, your partner, and the line of dance. You learn to gracefully navigate the milonga floor as well as the whole cultural context of Tango.

THURSDAY – Milonga Traspie w/ Guillermo Garcia

  • 8:00 pm – 9:30 – Milonga Traspié  – Topic in June: Understanding the Rhythmic Patterns of Milonga

The fast-paced milonga rhythm can be a lot of fun to dance to, especially when mastering the rhythmic steps usually called “traspié”. But it can also feel like a senseless workout if not done with the correct technique and musicality. Guillermo’s goal is to make you a big fan of this dance. In this class, we work on technique, steps, and milonga musicality, complemented with the cultural background of the genre. You can bring a partner or come alone. Class assistant: Keiko Kikuta. $15 class fee. Guillermo García is originally from Argentina. He is the co-founder and guitarist of Trio Garufa. More information at www.tangoguitar.comContact Guillermo.
